Social Networking has exploded in recent years and so have the amount of Social Networks available. Most everybody has probably herd the term “Social Networking” but ask them what it is and a good amount would not be able to explain it. Mention the words MySpace or Facebook and they may know or even use them without knowing they are actually using a Social Network. What is A Social Network? A Social Network is a group or community online that share a common interest and interact with others who share that same interest. More simple it’s a place where you can interact with friends, family, and business relationships via an online community. Before Social Networking websites existed it was difficult to meet other like minded individuals online. To do this you had to use instant messaging, chat room, or forums. While these are still in use the birth of the Social Network makes it much easier to meet and become friends with new people. Why Join A Social Network? If you are a blogger it is a great way to drive traffic to your site, encourage people to read your blog, and interact with other bloggers. It will allow you to keep your “friends” up to date on what’s going on with you and your blog. 7 Social Networks You Should Join 1. StumbleUpon - Allows members to click threw random web pages, photos, and videos and rate them with a thumbs up or down, write reviews, or email to others. You choose the categories you’d like to see and it learns as you go what you do or don’t like. The big key is to get your page stumbled. This will drive lots of traffic your way. 2. Twitter -Is described as a micro-blogging network. Users write short updates called “Tweets” which can also include links to sites. You build a network of friends or Followers and in turn are able to see their updates also. 3. Digg -Users submit links and vote on them by digging and commenting on them. Having one of your posts dugg will leed to lots of traffic. 4. Facebook - Allows you to post photos, video, links, and updates about you. You can connect with other by adding them as friends. 5.
