How Do I Increase My Twitter Followers

This question was asked in part due to the recent posts about Technorati and Alexa and how to increase their ranks. So I’ll stick with what has become the theme of the week, increasing my blogging stuff. Twitter as everyone knows is the forefront of micro-blogging. Post a small message or link send it and everyone who follows you will get the message. Used as a marketing tool Twitter can help to get your name or blog out there. Major businesses like CNN and Whole Foods Market (personal favorite) use it, President-elect O’bama used it to gain popular vote, and even Brittney uses it. So back to the question…
How Do I Increase My Twitter Followers? If your reading this I’m guessing your already on Twitter and have some followers but you want more. Follow these simple tips and watch the Followers come in. 1. Follow those who follow you. This is pretty obvious, if you want people to follow you, you have to be willing to follow them back. 2. Have something to say. Be active, Tweet, interact, and respond to messages. Why would you want to follow someone who has nothing to say? 3. Offer something useful. Tweet about something that will catch the interest of readers and make them want to follow you. Give them information, tips, or help. 4. Look the part. Put some work in to your design. Ditch the default Twitter layout for a custom background. People will instantly follow you if they see you’ve put effort into it. 5. Fill out your Bio. Not having your bio filled in will have people clicking away in a split second. Let them know about you. 6. Add a photo. This puts a face to a follower. If you are unsure about adding a pic of yourself add one of your logo or your cat Sparkles. 7. Look for the add button. A good majority of bloggers have an “Add To Twitter” button on their blog. Click it, add them, more then likely they will add you back. 8. Place an “Add Me To Twitter” button to your blog. Same way as #7 have a way for people to add you. 9. Show Tweets on your blog. If your using Wordpress (and you should be) add the plugins Twitter for Wordpress or Twitter Tools so that visitors can see your Twitter updates on your blog. 10. Add Twitter Counter to your blog. If visitors see a count of followers that is climbing day by day they will want in and add you to their followers. 11. Add, add, add. Just add anyone you come across. If they don’t add you back move on to the next. Now that you have some useful tips to increase your followers be sure to USE Twitter. Don’t sit idle by, engage, share, learn, respond, aks, question, entertain, educate, and Tweet!
